Before getting a cut, book a consultation with a barber to get basic pricing information, go over some ideas, find out what tips he or she has for your hair type, which cut would go best with your style and which products would enhance your hair, whether it be curly, straight or frizzy. Make sure the barber is properly licensed to cut hair, and find out whether the barber shop is part of a local, national or international entity. Look around the shop and see what supplies and equipment the barber offers for sale. Typically, barbers sell shampoo, conditioner, gel and maybe even brushes, combs and clippers. Before choosing a barber, keep in mind the barber's hours, location, word-of-mouth recommendations, price and hairstylist specialties.
